Tutoring: Enormous Business Opportunity

New York Times reports that the tutoring program offered by law is going unused.

George Bush’s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) has tremendous supplemental educational services funding. Students, under NCLB, are eligible for free tutoring, and according to this article, roughly two million public school students were eligible for free tutoring in the school year that ended in 2004, yet only 226,000 — 12% — received help.

In the nation’s largest school district, New York City, fewer than half of the 215,000 eligible students sought the free tutoring, and in California in the last school year, 95,500 of 800,000 eligible students were tutored. In Maryland, just over a quarter of those who were eligible — 5,580 of 19,520 students — actually enrolled in the last school year. And in Louisiana, despite aggressive marketing by the state, only about 5,000 of 50,000 eligible students took part in the program last year.

Reasons cited include lack-of-awareness amongst parents, and complicated paperwork associated with the process.

Well, this is both a problem and an opportunity for private small businesses to step in, get NCLB certification, and begin offering their services to schools and parents in each community across America.

While online tutoring programs with off-shore tutors may be an excellent business opportunity as well, it requires motivated students to take advantage of such services.

For the segment that NCLB focuses on -children in Public Schools, especially under-performing schools – it requires “in-person” tutoring, and that cannot be off-shored. These kids are inherently weaker, less motivated, come from under-priveleged backgrounds – hence, community tutorial services could both add a lot of value to their needs, as well as build strong businesses within the framework of the NCLB system.

Several large companies have been built over the years, focusing on tutorial services franchises. Sylvan Learning Centers, Kumon, Huntington, etc. are all examples of learning center franchises that fall within the scope of NCLB. There are opportunities to simply buy a Franchise from one of these larger companies.

There is, also, the opportunity to create a specific and unique methodology, and build your own franchise.
There are opportunities, for example, to tailor programs for children from Hispanic households where often, language is a barrier. There are also opportunities to create programs for different styles of learning.

There are bodies of research available on learning styles and multiple intelligence, which tap into how different kids learn differently. Courses can be customized to suit various of these mechanisms. The most popular categorization of learning styles is called VARK (Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic). Teaching of Math and Sciences in a personalized manner, following VARK guidelines could well be ways to get through to children who are otherwise failing.

Bottomline: The budget is there. It is upto the entrepreneurial energy and creativity expressed by people who are qualified to teach and tutor, to tap into this business opportunity.

Best Car Wax Sealant

Auto Detailing Tips: Is Teflon Car Wax The Best Choice?

New car paint should last at least three years with no maintenance, but it’s always better to stay ahead of the game and take care of your car’s exterior. Protecting it from outside elements like sun and dirt go a long way to keeping your car’s body in top condition.

Besides washing a car regularly, it’s also recommended that you finish off the job with a car wax or sealant. Not only will the paint look shiny and new, but the wax also provides much needed protection from damaging sun rays and more.

For years, manufacturers have been touting the wonders of Teflon car wax. But are these products really more effective in keeping your car’s exterior paint shiny and protected from the elements? Or is sticking with the tried and true carnauba waxes just as beneficial?

Thanks to advertising and marketing tactics, the name “Teflon” has become synonymous over the decades with products that keep something safe with a hard, protective surface or shield. But what is “Teflon?”

The term really refers to a brand name created by the DuPont Corporation, relating to their line of polytetrafluorethylene products. These synthetic polymers, or PTFE, are typically found in cookware, providing a non-stick surface for pots and pans.

So it’s not actually the “Teflon” in your skillet that keeps your eggs from sticking, but rather, the polymers used in the manufacturing that provide the true protection.

That means that when you’re shopping for car waxes, you may not need a “Teflon” coating, but instead, seek out sealants containing polymer, as that’s the real magic to maintaining a paint job that’s shiny and protected from the great outdoors.

How well do these fancy, scientific waxes work? There’s no doubt that polymer car waxes are more effective and will outlast traditional carnauba waxes.

As technology and engineering advancements improve, you no longer have to choose a wax that only does one or two things. Now, you can find polymer car sealants that not only make your paint job look beautiful and provide protection, but also repel dust, inhibit UV rays, and are easier than ever to apply.

Hotel Franchise Fees

Is Your Hotel Franchisor’s Reservation System Producing Enough Reservations

Is Your Hotel Franchisor’s Reservation System Producing Enough Reservations

As every hotel franchise owner knows, revenues are generated by putting “heads” in the “beds.” Integral to this industry fact, Visit Here

is how effective a hotel franchisor’s reservation system is in putting heads in its franchisee’s beds. When a hotel franchisee purchases a franchise, he or she expects that the franchisor will play a substantial role in providing a reservation system that will produce enough reservations to maintain a steady flow of reservations to the hotel.

In many instances, however, franchisees find themselves struggling to maintain the viability of their franchises due to the lack of reservations coming into their hotel through their franchisor’s reservation systems. Bottom lines are being affected across the country because hotel franchisor’s reservation systems are failing to deliver a reasonable and sufficient number of reservations to franchisees’ hotels. Coupled with the substantial fees franchisees are forced to pay to their franchisors each month for the use of the franchisor’s reservation system, many franchisees are beginning to question whether a reservation system without reservations is worth the money. After all, a franchisee pays substantial fees each month to the franchisor for the use and benefit of the franchisor’s reservation system. In exchange, the franchisee expects that his or her hotel will receive reservations – enough to sustain a profitable and viable hotel entity.

More and more, especially in the wake of the economic woes suffered by many in the hotel industry after 9/11, franchisees are raising the issue of the effectiveness of their franchisor’s reservation system. Franchisees’ disappointment over their franchisors’ reservation systems has led to increased litigation over the issue of whether a hotel franchisor has an obligation to provide much more than simply a reservation system. In other words, a reservation system should deliver reservations – not simply claim to deliver reservations.

There are clearly advantages to affiliating oneself with a franchisor’s national hotel brand – not the least of which is the name recognition that will inevitably help in bringing customers to your hotel. Yet, this does not assure you that you will receive a sufficient number of hotel reservations through your franchisor’s reservation system to generate a steady stream of business. In other words, you may be forced to undertake your own costly marketing and reservation support to remain profitable.

If you are a potential hotel franchisee or an existing one, make sure you thoroughly investigate your franchisor’s reservation system and determine whether your franchisor is undertaking enough efforts to maximize the number of reservations your hotel should be receiving through its reservation system. In addition, be sure to review your franchise agreement with an experienced franchise attorney to understand exactly what obligations your franchisor has to deliver reservations to your hotel through the reservation system and what you can do to adequately protect yourself against empty reservation systems.Visit Here

How To Make Your Car Look Like New

We all love to hear our friends ask how we made our car look so good, or how we keep it looking so new. It is a fact that resale value is greatly affected by how your car looks and the better it looks, the more it is worth. Unfortunately, regardless of how much we car for our car, the inevitable does and will happen. Scratches, nicks and dings from road debris, bird droppings and tar from road work and construction, sun damage, acid rain and other things that are detrimental to the finish and look of the vehicle. Here are some tips on how to minimize these things happening and to lessen or remove their damage to your cars finish.

Bird droppings and tar are equally difficult to remove from the paint and chrome. Bird droppings are actually acidic and will etch the paint or even chrome if left on too long, especially in the hot sun. Most bird droppings will break up with a little soap and water. Some may require soaking by placing a wet, bunched up paper towel directly on top of the spot and leaving it there until it becomes easy to remove. This is better than picking at it as this can cause paint to chip or come off on older cars. Tar requires use of a special tar removal spray. These are made so they will not be caustic to your paint and will quickly remove the sticky tar.

Sun damage is generally going to dull your paint. This can be fixed by using a car polish or, in really tough cases with bad oxidation, rubbing compound. This will also work for removing most small scratches. Car polishes and rubbing compound come as either a liquid or paste and is applied to the paint in a circular motion. After it dries to a haze it is buffed off with a clean terry towel. Be sure to thoroughly wash your car first as the dirt can contain contaminants that will scratch your paint and make it worse (be sure to use specific car cleaning solutions only). This will make the paint smooth and should be followed up with either a protective car wax or car polish. Synthetic car polishes will last longer, but car waxes do give the best shine. A great secret of the detailing superstars is to use 2 coats of car polish and then follow that with 2 coats of a carnauba wax. This will give you superior protection and an unbeatable showroom new car shine.

Nicks and dings usually occur together. Parking lot dings are the most popular where , someones car door will usually nick the paint and leave a small ding. Most body shops will want $300 – $500 or more just to fix a small ding and nick. The best way to do this is use a paintless dent removal expert. They are in pretty much every town under names like Dent Wizard (Tip, use Dent Wizard as they are the best and cheapest) and they can remove almost any small dent or ding. They will remove the entire ding for between $30 and $90 and all you are left with is the nick. A nick can easily be filled in with touchup paint and a toothpick. You can buy a small container of touchup paint for your exact color at your local dealer for under $10. Do not use a brush as it will go on too thick and make the touchup obvious. A toothpick will put the paint directly in to the nick or deep scratch.

Another big item that many people overlook is headlight restoration and cleaning. According to the Institute For Highway Safety:

It is a fact that 80 percent or more of the vehicles on the road have inefficient and worn or cloudy and improperly aimed headlights.

Are you one of these people? You are at a higher risk of an accident if you drive with inefficient headlights without enough light output due to opaque or cloudy lenses. Not only is your vision reduced, but other cars will not be able to see you as well with dim lights. There is a patented headlight restoration and cleaning kit which has been proven effective in restoring previously cloudy lenses to new again at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Headlight restoration will greatly improve your night time driving safety and make your car look so much better.

There you have it, some great tips that will make your car look better, be worth more money and be a whole lot safer at the same time. Now, go give your car that new car shine.
