Discover Your Perfect Winter Homein Jupiter FL’s Abacoa Community
Toward the southern end of Abacoa you will find the neighborhood of Antigua. One of the latter phases of Abacoa, the 280 townhomes of the neighborhood were built between 2004 and 2005. The community has a Bahamian / Key West feel with tree lined streets, porches, and balconies. Divided by a wide green space featuring open and wooded areas, and accented by a lovely gazebo, the community also features a wonderful clubhouse with landscape pool and fitness center.
The homes in Jupiter’s Antigua neighborhood at Abacoa consist of a number of models of townhomes. Two story styles with 2 or 3 bedrooms plus a 1 car garage vary in size from approximately 1300 to 1350 sq ft and, as of the end of 2010, had sold in the $160,000 to $190,000 range. Three story townhomes, which include 3 or 4 bedrooms including a 2 car garage, run between 1850 and 2150 square feet and were selling in the $180,000 to $225,000 range. A number of the models have added improvements including granite kitchens and ceramic tile throughout 1st floor living areas. From condominium living at The Village at Abacoa and Somerset, to the townhomes of Somerset and Charleston Courts, to the lovely single family homes of Cambridge and Canterbury Place, there is something for everyone.
Townhomes in Antigua were created to take advantage of this area’s distinctive Live-Work zoning. Because of small to medium sized home office areas on the first floor and living quarters upstairs, a number of home owners take pleasure in the combined benefit of dedicated professional or studio area together with the added reward of working out of their home. Even with the professional / residential nature, the area remains quiet with its tree-lined avenues that provide a low-key lifestyle.
Abacoa is also home to numerous other job and educational opportunities. Three years ago, the Scripps Research Institute commenced operations on the MacArthur Campus of FAU across the street from Abacoa Town Center and has since moved into its very own mini campus on the Campus. In addition, the sole location of the Max Planck Institute outside of Europe is scheduled to begin construction across the street from Scripps. Finally, The MacArthur Campus is also home to four hundred and fifty students at the FAU Harriet Wilkes Honors College. The small “live & learn” liberal arts school (which includes a numerous students concentrating on scientific disciplines and pre-medical and pre-veterinary programs), offers motivated young people an extraordinarily focused academic atmosphere and features smaller classes taught exclusively by PhD educated instructors.
Like all of Abacoa’s 4,000+ residents, Antigua home owners enjoy stress-free access to a large number of retail, restaurants, and activities alternatives in Downtown Abacoa and the neighboring area. With minor league baseball and spring training for the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium, weekly concerts in the park, the annual Artigras Art Fair, Cheese Fest, the and a variety of additional family events throughout the year, residents and visitors find Abacoa to be a exciting and welcoming destination to live.
