Understanding Mexican Car Insurance!

When traveling to Mexico, it is very important that you purchase Mexican Insurance so as to protect yourself and your vehicle. There are a number of insurance companies that offer Mexico Car Insurance Online. You can find these on the web and also in the yellow pages. Mexico Insurance is very crucial when traveling to the country.

If it is your first time driving in Mexico, you must keep in mind that your American and Canada car insurance coverage is not recognized. Rules and policies in Mexico are different from those in the United States. You require Mexican insurance to protect your finances and prevent you from being detained in case of an auto accident.

There are many places where you can obtain Mexican insurance. The internet is a convenient place to make purchases. There are loads of companies that sell the insurance. 48 hours before you drive off you can surf the internet, find an insurance company and compare their policies.

You should choose an insurer that will offer you complete coverage at an affordable price. Be careful of online companies that provide non-rated insurance companies because they are not as reliable in case of a claim. You can also obtain Mexican insurance from various sellers located in border areas before crossing. You should be cautious when buying from these agencies as some are just out to scam travelers out of their hard earned cash.

If you make the decision to purchase from a border agency, be sure to inquire about how long it has been in operation and whether it is part of a larger accredited company. This will give you an idea if it is reputable or not. It is within your own best interest to only select insurers that are A RATED or better.

There are documents you should carry with you to insure that the process of obtaining Mexican insurance is simplified. Vehicle registration is the first of these. The car registration needs to be current. This is vital as it will help the insurance company or agencies ascertain that the vehicle you will be driving is indeed yours.

It will also provide such crucial details as the license plate number which is necessary especially when it comes to processing the insurance policy. When purchasing insurance you must also know when you will enter and leave Mexico. There are many people who do not understand why this is necessary.

However, with changes in the date, auto insurance policies can not be renewed, they must be re-written.4424uLGMexIns

Nissan Leaf

EV-11 prototype

The EV-11 prototype electric car was based on the Nissan Tiida (Versa in US) platform, but uses an all-electric drive train including an 80 kW (110 hp)/280 Nm (210 lbft) electric motor, 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack rated to have a range of 100 miles (160 km) on the EPA LA-4 or “city” driving cycle, navigation system, and remote control & monitoring using a cellphone connection through Nissan’s secure data center to the car.

The prototype was on display July 26, 2009. A week later, on August 2, 2009, the production version was unveiled at Nissan’s Yokohama headquarters and is set to begin selling in both the North American market and Japan in 2010.

Specifications

Leaf’s charging oulet is located in the front of the car.

The Leaf uses a front-mounted electric motor driving the wheels, powered by a 24kWh/90 kW lithium ion battery pack. The expected cruising range is the same as the EV-11 prototype, as is the motor. The battery pack is made of air-cooled stacked modules.

Performance

Nissan claims that the car has a top speed of over 140 km/h (87 mph).

The battery can be charged with 440 Volt, 220 Volt and 110 Volt sources. With 440 Volts, it can be charged to 80% capacity in about 30 minutes with a special quick charger that sends 440/480 volt direct current to the battery. With 220 Volt, it can be charged in 4 hours, and in North America and Japan using standard household 110 Volt outlets it can be charged in 16 hours.

Connected Mobility

Nissan Leaf will employ an advanced IT system. Connected to a global data center, the system provides support, information, and entertainment for drivers 24 hours a day. The dash-mounted monitor displays the Leaf’s remaining power, in addition to showing a selection of nearby charging stations.

User mobile phones can be used to turn on air-conditioning, the heater and re-set charging functions even when the vehicle is powered down. An on-board remote-controlled timer can also be pre-programmed to recharge batteries.

Price and sales

Rear view of the Nissan Leaf exhibited at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

Although an exact price has not been announced, the car is expected to cost US$25,00033,000. The Leaf’s pricing will be announced in April 2010, and Nissan will sell or lease the Leaf only with batteries included, forgoing the initial idea of leasing batteries to reduce the price of the car.

In mid-February 2010 Nissan announced that around 50,000 people have already registered in the U.S. to have first priority. The reservation process will begin in April, and after paying a fully refundable US$100 reservation fee, customers will be among the first in line able to order a Nissan Leaf. Orders are expected to begin in August and deliveries will start in select markets as early as December 2010.

Partnerships

Renault-Nissan has partnered with governments, public utilities, and private entities to produce the global infrastructure necessary to make the LEAF a viable concept. The Leaf, however, will not contain Renault-Nissan’s QuickDrop battery switch feature. Countries already signed up to this electric vehicle network include Portugal, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Ireland, France, China, Singapore, Switzerland, Canada (British Columbia) and Monaco.

Production

Nissan Leaf’s battery recharging station unit.

The U.S. Department of Energy has granted $99.8 million to Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (eTec) for the EV Project, involving the installation of up to 11,210 charging stations in strategic markets: Phoenix (AZ), Tucson (AZ), San Diego (CA), Portland (OR), Eugene (OR), Corvallis (OR), Seattle (WA), Nashville (TN), Knoxville (TN) and Chattanooga (TN). Nissan has partnered with eTec on this project, and will supply 4,700 vehicles to individual and fleet customers in these areas beginning in the fall of 2010.

The EV Project will collect and analyze data to characterize vehicle use in diverse topographic and climatic conditions, evaluate the effectiveness of charge infrastructure, and conduct trials of various revenue systems for commercial and public charge infrastructure. The ultimate goal of The EV Project is to take the lessons learned from the deployment of these first 4,700 EVs, and the charging infrastructure supporting them, to assist in the streamlined deployment of the full production number of Leafs and other EVs.

The first vehicles to be sold in the U.S. will be produced at Nissan plant in Oppama, Japan. Commercial US production would begin in late 2012 at Nissan’s manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Tennessee. This U.S. plant will be modified with a $1.4 billion loan granted by the U.S. Department of Energy to allow the manufacturing plant to produce the Nissan Leaf and its advanced batteries. The retooled plant is expected to create 1,300 jobs. The Smyrna plant is expected to produce up to 150,000 vehicles and 200,000 battery packs annually.

Marketing

Following General Motors’ announcement that they anticipate the Chevy Volt’s city fuel economy will reach 230 mpg plus 25kWh/100mi (85mpgge combined), Nissan announced on August 11, 2009, via its NissanEVs Twitter account, that they anticipate the Nissan Leaf can reach 367 mpg plug-to-wheel using the Department of Energy’s formula (22.5 kWh/100mi, 150mpgge).

Zero Emission Tour

Nissan Leaf at the 2010 Washington Auto Show, where it was announced as winner of the 2010 Green Car Vision Award by the Green Car Journal.

On October 22, 2009, Nissan announced The Zero Emission Tour, with stops in 22 North American cities. At each stop on the tour, visitors were able to view the car and learn about the benefits of zero-emission driving. The first stop of the tour was in Los Angeles on November 13, 2009, marking the unveiling of the LEAF in North America. Other stops on the tour included Berkeley, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Las Vegas, Houston, Washington, D.C. and Orlando.

The tour ended in February 2010 in New York City after visiting 24 cities, including two (Atlanta and Boston) that were added to the original itinerary due to requests. Nissan estimates that 100,000 people saw the company lithium-ion battery car.

Criticism

Since the initial series of announcements, a number of commenters criticized Nissan for what was seen as misleading emphasis on the 100 mile range that was computed using LA-4 or “city” mode.Skeptics point out that electric cars, unlike gasoline-powered vehicles, tend to achieve optimal efficiency at low speeds, and, furthermore, Leaf’s bulky shape and its relatively large size (20% taller than the GM EV1 and almost 40% taller than Tesla Roadster) imply poor aerodynamics, making it perform poorly on freeways[citation needed]. As of February 2010, Nissan has not yet released the expected highway range of the Leaf. Its coefficient of drag (a parameter that’s crucial to its highway efficiency) has not been stated explicitly either; its designer went on record saying “…it is very good — without making it the typical one motion aeroform”, but stopped short of proclaiming it to have the lowest coefficient of drag among mass-produced cars (this title is currently claimed by Mercedes-Benz E-class, at 0.24).

Awards and recognition

Time magazine called the Nissan Leaf one of the 50 best inventions of 2009.

2010 Green Car Vision Award by the Green Car Journal at the Washington Auto Show. The GCJ editors considered that “This coming electric model will provide the features, the styling, and the driving experience that will meet the needs of a sophisticated and demanding market, while producing zero localized emissions and requiring no petroleum fuels.”

Car Detailing Business Cards

Printing Business Cards for Auto Detailers

Auto detailing in not about repairs: it is all about art in motion. As an auto detailer, you want to stand out from the competition. The only way you can get the chance to trounce the competition is to get as many clients as you can. You can achieve that by marketing your garage through
business cards
that sport cutting-edge designs. Here are some ideas on how you can start designing great-looking business cards.

Design and Printing Ideas for Business Cards

Select a high-resolution image that will go into the business card. High resolution is necessary because auto detailing is all about dazzling the car enthusiasts. Show your customers that you can work magic in restoring classic cars or adding bling to an already show-grade car. Your business card is a sneak peek into your portfolio so go ahead and be liberal with the graphics.

Make sure your contact information is prominently displayed on the business card. Do not get too carried away with the bling and the chrome images. Remember that the business card is a marketing tool and you want customers to give you a call when the business card image has persuaded them to bring their cars to your garage.

Follow the theme colors of your shop and use the same colors on your business card. Using a singular color scheme creates brand recognition and makes it easier for customers to remember you.

Printing business cards on glossy card stock. Business cards are most likely transferred from one person to another. Glossy business cards are as attractive as they are tough. The gloss coating protects the card from water drips, oily hands, and the elements. UPrinting can provide you with business cards that are professional looking and with high-impact graphics. UPrinting produces high quality business cards at reasonable prices.

Important Car Buying Information

Initial car buying information, people think about speed, luxury and style when considering a new car. But nowadays fuel is also a key concern for buyers. Many are examining not only the look of the car, but also its fuel economy. Fuel-efficient vehicles have become a popular choice for car buyers. In addition to efficient cars, some consumers are also considering vehicles that use alternative fuels.

Buying a vehicle that uses alternate fuel can save you a lot of money in the long run and help reduce air pollution. Some alternative fuels include ethanol, biodiesel, natural gas, propane and hydrogen.

Ethanol actually comes right from corn. You may already be using this alternative fuel without even realizing it. Ethanol is currently mixed into some of the fuel supply, and has been for decades. It helps reduce exhaust emissions by adding oxygen to gasoline. And E-10 (a 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gasoline mix) can already be used by cars from every major automaker in the world.

Biodiesel fuel is even cleaner-burning than ethanol and is produced from vegetable oil. The oil must be produced to meet industry specifications, but is already being manufactured by several producers and distributors. It is important to note that biodiesel fuel is different from raw vegetable oil. However, biodiesel fuel is easy to incorporate into your vehicle. Any diesel engine can use biodiesel fuel with few or no modifications to the car itself.

Another option is getting a car that runs on natural gas. Natural gas is already used for things like heating and electricity in buildings. But it can also be used in cars. The setback, for now, is that this requires modifications to the vehicle. But overall, natural gas is cheaper and cleaner burning than gasoline. It is 90 percent methane, which allows it to burn more efficiently than gasoline.

A byproduct of natural gas is actually propane, which can be used as a fuel in its own right. Propane does tend to be more flammable than other fuels, but is available widely already; it is currently the third most popular vehicle fuel. With a few modifications, a gasoline-burning engine can be changed to burn propane instead.

Hydrogen is also becoming a popular alternative in vehicles. However, the cost of this technology is holding it back at the moment. While hydrogen is extremely environmentally friendly, equipping a car with the technology to use hydrogen as fuel, and paying for hydrogen itself, is a costly endeavor.

The alternatives mentioned above often involve modifying an existing car or engine. But there are cars out there already built to run on alternative fuels. Hybrid vehicles most commonly combine electricity and gasoline. This combination allows the vehicle to burn dramatically less gasoline.

Gasoline-electric hybrid cars still have gasoline engines like convention vehicles, but they also contain electric motors. This allows hybrids to use far less fuel. These cars can even shut off their engines entirely in situations such as red lights.

Alternative fuels and hybrid technology have come a long way. Environmentally-minded consumers may want to look into hybrid vehicles or vehicles that can be modified to burn alternative fuels. They may cost more initially, but these vehicles have the potential to be vital in the near future as environmental consumers continue to loom large in consumers’ minds.

Are Get Free Car Offers Real?

Copyright (c) 2009 Rita R Philips

You’ve read and heard so much about companies offering to give out free cars in exchange for driving them. Is there truth to these rumors? Or is this another one of those urban legends or modern-day scams?

Here’s the real deal: it is true. There are companies that do give out free cars. There are people who have received and are now driving free cars. You, too, can get a free car, but there is more to it that you probably need to know.

These programs, including choosing from the applicants who should get a free car, are not usually managed directly by the advertisers. Instead, they are often handled by marketing or advertising companies.

The cars that are given out come wrapped in a vinyl film featuring a graphic ad about a company, a product, service, an upcoming event or a current promo. If you are availing yourself of the free car, chances are, you don’t get to choose the size of your ad or the type of vehicles. Once you are chosen, you will be asked to sign a contract detailing the minimum number of miles that you are supposed to drive every month, maybe even your route, and guidelines on where to park.

But you also don’t get into the program just because you want it. As we have previously said, there are criteria that you need to have before you are considered for a free car. The most obvious requirement is that you have to have a valid license. You must also be not less than 18 years old to be considered, and must have a good driving record. Some questions that you will be asked will also tell them how many miles you usually drive everyday, and whether or not your route passes through high-traffic places. They are of course interested in having as many people as possible see the advertisement. So if your everyday driving consists only of going to the office and back, or going to the neighborhood grocery or church, then don’t expect to qualify.

There are also some limitations once you get in. We don’t want to burst your bubble, so this early, you ought to know that new cars aren’t always up for giving away, and you also don’t get to choose the model or make of the car that you will take home. But if you are lucky, you might be able to find an advertising company that gives you a number of options. Also, don’t expect that you will be given the option of which ad will go with the car, or how long the ad will be plastered on the car.

Finally, keep in mind that the advertising company is still the owner of the car. This means that after the contract is over, which usually spans five years, you have to return the free car. In the interim, while you are using it, you might be asked to pay for insurance and maintenance costs-expenses that are not covered by the car advertising contract.

Car Detailing Products

How to Find Green Car Cleaning Products

Green is all the rage today. Advertisers are telling us about their green products. Local and federal governments are pushing for greener technologies and clean energy. Organic food choices are becoming more readily available and more cost-effective. You name it, if it can be greened, it is being greened.

Amidst all of this talk about the environment, it can be hard to spot a truly green product in the crowd. Many companies make claims about the eco-friendly attributes about their wares, but few do anything to verify these claims.

So when it comes to buying green car cleaning products, what are you to do? Are there particular characteristics you can look for that would point you in the direction of a sincerely earth-friendly product? With this checklist, you’ll have no trouble spotting the real thing:

  • Biodegradable: First and foremost, the product should state that it has been tested by a third-party certifier to ensure that it will biodegrade in the environment within a certain period of time (less than 30 days would be ideal). This ensures that it won’t be persisting in the environment for an extended period of time.
  • Free of petroleum ingredients: By their very nature, petroleum-based products are not sustainable or renewable, and so you should avoid them whenever possible. They also tend to be laced with unhealthy properties.
  • Non-toxic ingredients: Many car cleaning products use toxic ingredients such as silicon, mineral spirits, and petroleum distillates that can cause both human and environmental illness. Look for options that have the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment (DfE) seal of approval to ensure that your auto detailing products have a low chemical risk and are made in an energy efficient fashion. Plant-based ingredients are also a great option.
  • Phosphate-free: Common in soaps, phosphates reduce oxygen levels when they enter waterways which encourages the growth of algae that in turn squelch all other marine life.
  • Waterless car cleaners: Choosing a waterless car cleaning system will help you do your own car cleaning without wasting the 140 gallons of water common to DIY car washers.
  • Reusables: You’ll also want to look for a car care system that don’t require the use of disposable products that just add to landfill waste and cost you money. Microfiber clothes are a great option since they can be used hundreds of times without losing their effectiveness.

If you’re looking for green car cleaning products that meet all of these eco-friendly standards and more, look no further than Laura Klein’s Green Car cleaning system. With a product for every cleaning project, this system is eco-friendly, economical, and time-saving.
